President’s Notes: No long winded speeches this month! The only thing I want to talk about is the upcoming year. The time to start planning bus trips events, homebrew nights and other stuff is now. If you have an idea, I want to hear about it. I would really like some input on events to get out in the public and recruiting new members. Beer doesn’t have an off-season, so we have to keep playing! Meeting Notes: The Octoberfest party went off well. Crappy weather, good beer. Sounds like a fall party to me… thanks to Jim Didier for reserving the space, Allan for bringing the keg and to all for coming, bringing food and making the day a success! We had a couple of new members this month, welcome to Mike and Chris…hope to see you back again next month! Allan Novak gave us an excellent presentation on glassware and its us, as well as brought glass goodies for everyone… Ken Schulz gave a detailed explanation of the beginnings of Octoberfest… Next month, Lynn Foster will be presenting on the newest version of the Promash software, and Mike Sears will do our style presentation on Kolsch. This month was nomination time, and it was voted that the ticket remain the same for next year. Allan let us know that unfortunately, Bell’s will be pulling out of Illinois. Hope they realize condoms or the pill is much safer… Chuck Nolen will be stepping down as contest steward, Jason Varilek will be taking over steward duties. Style Contest – Octoberfest Open Contest 1. Chuck Nolen 1. Trish Phillips – Irish Red Ale 2. Trish Phillips 2. Ryan Cooper – IPA 3. Ken Schulz 3. Chuck Nolen – Irish Dry Stout Honorable Mention – Mike Coisman - The Decembeer Contest style will be Porters. Website Notes: The club’s website points section and such have been updated through October’s contest results.
Club Event Notes: The annual Christmas party is tentatively scheduled for December 9th. We will probably be receiving confirmation from our hosts at the November meeting. Look for more details to follow in your email as he date nears. Don’t miss it. Competition Corner: There isn’t much going on in our area for contests at this time. However, now is a great time to get some batches done to be ready for the upcoming spring contests. |
