Ninkasi, the 3600 B.C. Sumerian goddess of beer known as "the lady who fills the mouth" was portrayed as the giver and protector of beer and brewing. Until the Middle Ages, brewing was considered the exclusive domain of women, who were known as "brewsters".

"Tasters Guild" Meeting Info

Taster's Guild meets the first Wednesday of each month. No minutes, no rules of order, and sorry...no homebrew sampling. Just brewers enjoying good times and some commercially available beers. Please feel free to bring your spouses, friends or significant others, but please no pets. Dinner is part of the festivities so plan accordingly.

New Glarus Oktoberfest Trip


Dave Denale is organizing a trip to New Glarus, WI for their Oktoberfest celebration on September 27th. If you are interest in going please get your name on the list ASAP. The more people who sign up the cheaper it will be for transportation. Please e-mail Dave Denale or contact the Forest City Brewers to sign up or to get more information.

AHA Big Brew Results

Looks like the year's AHA Big Brew is going to be a very big success. Not all the sites have reported in but so far 240 locations brewed 602 batches for 4777 gallons and reports are still coming in.

(7/17/08 update) THE FINAL RESULTS ARE IN.....


Almost 4000 participants creating 1240 batches of beer totaling 10,500+ gallons.
Participants hailed from 42 States in the US, 4 sites each in England, Canada, and Australia; 3 sites each in Russia and Brazil; 2 sites each in the Netherlands, Israel, and Argentina; and one site each in Kenya and Uruguay! These are fantastic numbers!!!!!

A sad anouncement was made today from the Goose Island Company. They are being forced to close their Clyborn Pub after 20 years there.
