TWO
MEETINGS IN NOVEMBER
At the October 17th meeting it was voted by those
present to have a trial meeting at Old Chicago on November
14th.
Since our regular third-Wednesday-of- the-month meeting night
would fall on the day before Thanksgiving this year it was
decided to have our regular meeting one week earlier. It will
be held on Wednesday, November 14th at the usual time of
7:00pm. Once again, this one will be at Old Chicago. The Old
Chicago management has reserved the back half of their dining
room for us.
We will be having a second meeting in November back at L.T.'s
on the 28th. At this meeting will be held the judging as well
as discussion of the Old Chicago venue.
Christmas
Party Planned
The annual Forest City Brewers Christmas extravaganza
has been scheduled for December 15th at 7:00pm. Once again it
will be at the home of Maryanne and Rich Theyerl, 8000 East
Riverside Blvd. (It's the second floor of Country Lane
Kennels, just East of I-90) An appetizer to pass is always
welcome. Beverages will be provided but if you have something
that we simply must try… "by all means!"

NOTE
FROM PRESIDENT (PRO TEM)
Very
special thanks to Lynn and Barb for the terrific Oktoberfest
Party and brewing experience. The sausage, the beer, the fish
boil and not least the pretzels were all great. For those who
had not seen the brewery, it was an additional treat. Thanks
Again! It was truly the most memorable FCB Oktoberfest I can
recall.
I sincerely hope that the word gets out to all of our club
members that our next meeting date and location has changed.
On the recommendation of Rich and Maryanne, we are holding our
next meeting at 'Old Chicago'. And, because of Thanksgiving,
we are moving the meeting forward to Wednesday, November 14th.
On this special meeting night we will be accepting additional
nominations for club officers. If you want the members to
consider anyone else for a club officer position, this will be
your last chance.
We will be holding a second meeting in November on the last
Wednesday of the month, the 28th at LT's. At this time we will
discuss our experience at 'Old Chicago' to determine if we
should move our regular meetings to this new venue. We will
also elect or new officers.
If you have not already done so, please (KEEP) checking out
our new web site. This site has been
developed by our new 'Director of Communications and Public
Awareness' Andy Friedl. Although this is a work in progress,
Andy has been doing a great job of listing current events and
other timely information. So, if you have missed a meeting or
two, keep checking for club news updates on the web.
See you on Wednesday the 14th at Old Chicago (State St east of
Mulford Rd.)

SECRETARY'S
NOTES FROM LAST MEETING
At last month's meeting Ken reported that the homebrew
presentation at the Burpee Museum of Natural History went
quite well with about 20 attendees. A few t-shirts were sold.
In attendance at the October meeting were a couple old faces,
namely George Pappas and John Sears and one new one. Tim
Dorsey was visiting and hopefully was favorably impressed. He
had yet to brew his first batch but had the Mr. Brew kit
ready.
Nominations for Officers for 2002 were held. Voting will be
held at the November meeting. Nikki Lawson was elected to the
office of Treasurer without opposition as were Richard and
Maryanne Theyerl for the office of Secretary. Nominated for
Activities director (in absentia) was Ken Lonergan. (you've
got to show up in self defense if you don't want an office
people) and Lynn Foster and Pat Cunningham were nominated for
President.
A new office was created with Andy Friedl becoming our first
ever Communications Officer. (Wasn't that Lt. Uhura?) His main
duty will be that of maintaining our new website of his
design.,
if you can!

TREASURER'S
REPORT
OK-so I'm not really all that good about timely deposits
and all that sort of thing. I'm going to try to keep this
posted in the newsletter every month so I keep up with it.
We'll see how it goes.
Beginning checkbook balance as of 9/6/01--$638.66
Judging $18.00
New Memberships $25.00
Ending checkbook balance as of 10/01/01 $681.66
And that's all there is to it!
Warning
For Men
Do not want to alarm you but:
Men, be more alert and cautious when getting a drink offer
from a
girl. There is a new drug that is in liquid form. The drug is
now being
used by female sexual predators at parties to induce their
male victims to have sex with them. The shocking news is that
the drug is available virtually anywhere! It goes by the
street name "Beer". All girls have to do is buy a
"Beer" or two for almost any guy and then simply ask
the guy home for no-strings-attached sex. Men are rendered
literally helpless against such tactics.
Please! Inform everyone you know...There are just too many
innocent men out there to leave unaware of the great
vulnerability they may have to this insidious liquid. |
Annual
FCB Oktoberfest a great success!
The Forest City Brewer's Oktoberfest was held at the home of
Lynn and Barb Foster on Saturday the 20th. Aside from Roger,
who nearly whacked off the end of his thumb, all had a great
time. There was a keg of New Glarus Oktoberfest on tap as well
as a really fine IPA brewed by the host.
Those who arrived early were treated to seeing an actual brew
taking place in the Foster Family Brewery.
An excellent selection of Rathskeller German sausages were
grilled up by Lynn and Barb was busy making homemade pretzels.
At two o'clock we all partook of a genuine Door County Fish
Boil, once again, overseen by Lynn.
Thank you for doing such a great job Lynn and Barb!
